Sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in life and forget everything we should be grateful for. It’s always nice when we are reminded that we should appreciate the various things we tend to take for granted. I’ve compiled a list of ten things you should never forget to be thankful for.
1. The Internet
We use it on a daily basis, and most of us can’t remember a time without it. The internet has brought us all together.
Isn’t it amazing that you can quickly look up egg roll recipes, chat with your relatives from across the globe, or that long distance relationships are a bit easier to maintain when your significant other is only a click away?
If it weren’t for the internet, you wouldn’t be reading this right now!
There’s no doubt about it, being sad sucks.
But, it makes you appreciate happiness. Think about it, if we never felt sorrow, how would we know what happiness was?
You can’t have one, without the other.
3. People Who Work In Customer Service
Be thankful for that Starbucks barista who makes your green tea latte with skim milk, two extra scoops of green tea, and no sweetener.
And the gardener who blows the leaves off your yard, or the cashier who will listen to you complain about prices they didn’t set.
Working in customer service is hard, not everyone is up for it.
Appreciate the people out there who make your life easier, treat them with the kindness and respect they deserve.
If you can’t afford it, there are food shelters, government aid, or people who are kind enough to give food to a person in need.
Food, for a lot of us, is accessible. Knowing when you’ll be having your next meal is something that should be appreciated.
5. Those Who Serve Our Country
We should not only be grateful for people in the military but also firefighters, police officers, and any good samaritan.
Those who continue to be brave and risk their lives to help others, remind us that all hope in the world is not lost.
Even if you aren’t in a relationship, or if you don’t come from a great family, love is all around us.
Bask in the love between friends and family members, between two strangers holding hands on the street, or even the love between a person and their pet.
Unfortunately, we don’t live in a place where everyone can continue their education out of high school, but we do have the ability to learn new things every day.
Information can be gathered online, through television programs, public libraries and so on.
Simply having a conversation with someone gives us the opportunity to learn something new.
We live in a nation that has changed so much in the last century. This doesn’t mean that bigotry has ceased to exist, but we should be thankful for those who continue to fight for equality and who embrace diversity.
Diversity is about accepting differences; it allows us to appreciate all the beauty that the world has to offer.
Most of us have access to get from point A to point B. Whether it be by walking, skating, taking a bus, taxi, train, etc.
If you have the opportunity to go where you want, know that this sense of freedom is amazing.
10. Waking Up Each Day
Getting to live another day is incredible!
There are no certainties in life, make the most of it while you can, and don’t take it for granted.
There are many other things we should take the time to appreciate in life, what are you thankful for?
