I Tried a Peel Off Mask And Here’s Why You Should Too

If you’ve been on any social media, you’ve probably seen people trying black peel off masks. I got a sample of Boscia’s Luminizing Black Mask from Sephora and finally got around to trying it.

Which Type of Skin Is It Good For?

According to Sephora’s website, the peel off mask is suitable for the following skin types:

✔ Normal
✔ Oily
✔ Combination
✔ Dry
✔ Sensitive

Worst Part

The peel off mask instructs you to apply generously and leave on for 30 minutes or until dry. I think I ended up leaving it on for 45 minutes to an hour as it took a while to dry.

In the third picture above you can see me just sort of giving up.

I had to peel it off slowly; it felt like the mask was trying to rip my skin off.

I don’t know if it’s because I left it on too long, but the process of removing it was painful.

Best Part

The best part about the peel off mask is that it felt like it stripped away a lot of impurities from my skin. It was like a nose strip for my entire face.

You don’t have to use it on your whole face; you can just apply it to the areas you want to focus on.

Next time I’ll probably just use it on my nose.

Peel Off Mask

The sample I received was good enough for about two full face applications. I got it during Christmas when Sephora had that deal where you spend over $25 and get a free beauty bag filled with samples.

You can ask for a sample at Sephora, and I’m sure they’ll give you some product to try at home.

Would I Recommend It?

It is a bit too expensive for me to buy simply to use on my nose, but I would recommend trying a sample before committing to purchasing the product.

Boscia’s black charcoal mask works well for oily skin. It felt like all the moisture had been pulled off my face.

Although Boscia claims that the product works well on dry skin, I’m not all too sure. It left my face feeling pretty dry afterward, so I don’t know if people with dry skin will see the same benefits.

The peel off mask was super fun to try, but I probably won’t be purchasing the product after my sample runs out.

I bet I can find some affordable charcoal mask that won’t cost me $32.

Have you tried a peel off mask before? How’d you like it?

  1. I’ve always been too chicken to do it. I heard some of them can be damaging with micro tears but then others swear on it. I’m with you, if I ever get the courage to try it i might just commit to my nose only.

    1. Oh wow, I didn’t know that! It was fun to try it once, but the pain sort of made it not worth it haha I’m sure there are cheaper and better nose peels 🙂

    1. Aww that sucks 🙁 But don’t worry, you’re not missing out. I think sheet masks work better in general.
