I Tried Carl’s Jr. Froot Loops Mini Donuts Because Why Not?

Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s started selling Froot Loops mini donuts on August 29th! These colorful babies are being sold for $1.99 (limited time only at participating locations)! Whether you enjoy them for breakfast, dessert, or simply as a sweet snack, these donuts offer a unique take on a familiar flavor.
Here’s what Carl’s Jr. Froot Loops Mini Donuts look like.
And because I LOVE dessert, I decided to take one for the team and try them out for you!
So at $1.99 for 5, I’d like to think that these mini donuts are affordable! When I opened the box I got a whiff of Fruit Loops, which was awesome! I imagine a ton of people heading out to buy Fruit Loops (the cereal) after eating these.
How do they taste?
At first bite, they taste pretty soft. Sort of cake like and bready. Imagine eating hostess donuts but not as stale. They also taste EXACTLY like Fruit Loops. So if you’re a big fan of the cereal, it’s like eating a different textured Fruit Loop.
I’d recommend pairing your mini donuts with some milk or coffee!
Would I buy Carl’s Jr. Fruit Loops mini donuts again?
The fact that they taste and smell just like Fruit Loops was pretty cool, but I wouldn’t buy them again. They also look like donut shaped Play-Doh, which is part of what attracted me to them.
As a person who loves sweets but doesn’t necessarily like things that taste too sweet, (yeah, I’m weird) I think the donuts would’ve tasted better without the frosting. But I get it, they were aiming for that aesthetic quality. As you might expect, the multicolored donuts are pretty much made for social media hype. So don’t expect them to look beautiful when you open up the box.
My mom and sister tried them as well and agree that they’re not bad. But they’re definitely not something you’d buy again. They’re no Krispy Kreme! Or whatever your favorite donut store is.
Would I recommend that you buy them?
If you’re intrigued, I say, go ahead and buy them. Paying $1.99 isn’t bad for dessert that is sure to satisfy your sweet tooth. Oh, and kids will for sure love these!
